<span lang="EN-US" style="color:black">The Department of Curriculum, Instruction, and Special Education in the Curry School of Education & Human Development at the University of Virginia is seeking applications for a tenure track faculty position in the area
of Dual/Foreign Language ESL Teacher Education. Responsibilities include collaborating with other program and department faculty, developing and implementing teacher preparation programs as well as designing and delivering doctoral preparation. The incumbent
designs and conducts rigorous research on second language learning and/or bilingual education and works with interdisciplinary faculty across the school and the University to successfully seek extramural research funding. Other duties include mentoring doctoral
students' research and dissertation activities; advising undergraduate and graduate students on courses of study; and supervising graduate students' practica and related learning activities.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<span lang="EN-US" style="color:black">A Ph.D. in bi/multilingual or second/world language education, Educational Linguistics, Applied Linguistics or a related area with an emphasis in bilingual, dual, ESL and/or world language education and pedagogy is required
by the start-date of the appointment. The applicant must have a demonstrated record of conducting research in the efficacy of different models of bi/multilingual education; the nature of bi/multilingualism and development of bilingual learners; second language
acquisition and language development, particularly among adolescents; language education in multilingual contexts; modern language education; language and sociocultural theory, as applied to classrooms; dual-language education and/or other bilingual or multilingual
instruction, or other related field. Three years classroom teaching experience in preK-12 ESL, bilingual, dual language, and/or world language settings is required. Preference will be given to applicants who are eligible for licensure as a teacher in Virginia
or another state. Fluency in both English and an additional language as well as experience developing and designing curricula, working with culturally and/or linguistically diverse students, mentoring doctoral students, and online teaching is also preferred.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
