<p class="MsoNormal">stream, tenure-track appointment in English as a Second Language (ESL) at the rank of Assistant
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Professor, to commence July 1, 2020. The successful candidate will be expected to teach
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">undergraduate and may also teach graduate courses, providing creative educational leadership
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">in enhancing ESL teaching and learning through curricular and pedagogical innovation in the
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">classroom. The successful candidate will serve as coordinator of Glendon’s ESL Program and will
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">also be required to teach in the Glendon College Certificate Program in the Discipline of Teaching
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">English as an International Language (D-TEIL). Salary will be commensurate with qualifications
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">and experience. All York University positions are subject to budgetary approval.

<p class="MsoNormal">A completed Ph.D. in Teaching English as a Second/Additional Language, Second/Additional
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Language Education, Applied Linguistics or in a related discipline is required. The successful
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">candidate will demonstrate excellence or clear potential for excellence in teaching content-based,
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">credit ESL in university-level courses. The successful candidate will also demonstrate a strong
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">commitment to pedagogy and student success and the capacity to bring a theoretical and practical
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">orientation to ESL teaching, learning and program design. A record of pedagogical innovation in high
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">priority areas such as experiential education, technology enhanced learning and community-<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">based learning is preferred as is experience with ESL curriculum development and assessment.
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Preference will be given to those with experience teaching ESL/EAL teacher preparation courses
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">as well as coordinating language programs. The successful candidate is also expected to provide
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">evidence of service contributions or potential to contribute to service in administrative and
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">committee work. Given Glendon’s bilingual mandate, the successful candidate must also be able
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">to participate actively in College-wide committee work in French as well as English.
