<span lang="en-US" style="margin:0px;color:rgb(49, 49, 49)">BAAL 2022 will be hosted by Queen’s University in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The conference’s theme<span> </span><i>Innovation and Social Justice in Applied Linguistics</i><span> </span>reflects an
increasing interest in research that responds to real-world concerns within and beyond the field.<span> </span></span><span style="margin:0px"><span lang="en-US" style="margin:0px;color:black">In the face of a global health crisis and rising socio-racial awareness,
our theme invites discussions around innovative and socially just practices in a field that is experiencing the multilingual, spatial, and social justice turn all at once. The current times are transformative and we hope that the conference theme will enable
proposals from across disciplines<span> </span></span></span><span lang="en-US" style="margin:0px;color:rgb(49, 49, 49)">and sub-disciplines of applied linguistics<span> </span></span><span style="margin:0px"><span lang="en-US" style="margin:0px;color:black">to
stimulate conversations about the field’s responses to global turbulence and shifts. </span></span><span lang="en-US" style="margin:0px;color:rgb(49, 49, 49)">We also invite proposals to generate meaningful dialogue around current issues in language research.</span></p>
