There used to be several textbooks on applied phonetics that dealt with
accents from various places and social levels: one compared and contrasted
"Cajun," "Quebecois," and Parisian accents in speaking English.  Another one
contrasted the Lancashire and Lincoln accents in English.  Does this jog
anyone's memory?
