"Akstericks" looks a little complex.  Mostly I've heard "astericks,"  with
the singular (my objectivity falls apart over this one) "asterick."

Of course there are dialects where final consonant cluster reduction is the
norm, but some of these terms appear in the context of dialects other than
those--i.e., in a context that makes these individual pronunciations
noticeable.

The radio, this week, yielded--all from talk-show hosts--"die of
_ at -fik-see-@_" and "a psychotic _foog_."  That's /u/, not /U/.
