bad

The "bad" issue brings up another question. Beverly Flanigan responded that "my bad" was not meant to be "childlike" or regressive, "whatever that means." Doesn't anyone else remember playing with language as a teenager? I mean, truly "childlike" inventions like saying "wuv" instead of "love," and using children's terminology for a variety of "adult" words. My friends and I had a whole set of made up words that were considered "cool" to use. An example was "Chick-meow," which was meant to imitate the sound a bullet makes when it ricochets off a rock in a western movie. We used it to mean something like "wow!" Any research on teenagers' invented language?
