conditional subjunctives

I could have sworn that we discussed "if I would have" on this list last
year or so.  But perhaps I'm wrong...if I am wrong, then I must have been
reading about the trend somewhere else and don't remember where.  (So, I'm
sending this very helpful information:  somebody's looked into this, but I
don't know who.)
