Farmgirl from Iowa says male pig/hog whose reproductive possibilities have
been
removed is called a "barrow." The intact male is a "boar." A young female
is a "gilt,"
and a female hog who has already farrowed (had a litter of piglets), is a
"sow."
Purtty darn sure I have this right, although it has been 40 years since I
last slopped
the pigs.
