Rubberneck

I remember hearing about "rubberneck" back in the 1950s from someone in
Texas who had a knowledge of the wider world that this was what New
Yorkers called tourists, since they stood out by constantly looking up in
awe at the skyscrapers and out of curiosity at the amazing things going on
around them, and I was cautioned against this behavior so as not to be
obvious. It was interesting to find that the last source Larry cited
defined a "rubberneck" as a tourist.
