"corridor" for a single city

I've been going through some old notes.

Heard on NPR news on Weds. 00.3.22 5:40± pm EST: "Hyderabad, India's newest
high-tech corridor"

To me, "corridor" in this usage should mean something at least
approximately linear, such as a proliferation of high-tech sites along a
particular stretch of highway. Reactions?
