Hemp Car; Universal Joint

HEMP CAR

   See http://hempcar.org.  It's a car that runs on hemp.  The vehicle was recently seen smokin' through Madison, Wisconsin.
   It supposedly burns "cleaner" than other such vehicles, but the fuel isn't exactly cheap.
   I don't know what other new words/phrases are here, besides "hemp car."  Maybe "weed on wheels"?

UNIVERSAL JOINT

   OED has Hooke's "universal joint," from 1825.  But automobiles also have a "universal joint," and OED should have this.

   MIAMI, Nov. 21 (AP)--Clarence W. Spcer, of Toledo, Ohio, former president of the Society of Automotive Engineers, died today, of heart disease.  He was sixty-three years old.  He had come to Miami to pass the winter with his son, Dr. Robert T. Spier.

   Mr. Spicer in 1905 organized the Spicer Universal Joint Manufacturing Company, with its main plant at Plainfield, N. J.
   Three years previously he had invented the Spicer universal joint which connected the drive shaft of the automobile to the rear axle.
