"Hero Sandwich" and Clementine Paddleford

   The Clementine Paddleford papers are in Special Collections at Kansas State University.  She wrote a food column for the New York Herald-Tribune and supposedly coined the "hero sandwich" in one of the columns.
   I thought I'd just write to KSU, they'd tell me the column, and that would be that.  I wouldn't have to research the entire Herald-Tribune.  But, of course, they DON'T know the column.  Nothing is easy!
   Paddleford began on the H-T in 1936.  "Hero" probably dates from 1947, 1948, 1949, 1950.  And yes, I do believe that Paddleford did coin it.

   MISC.:
   There was an Amtrak wreck in upstate New York last night.  My three-hour Amtrak mishap wasn't news.
