A rivel is a "tiny lump or shred of noodle-like dough, usually boiled in
soup."  There are many spellings (revel, ribble, riffle, rivvel, riwwel).
It come from PaGer riwwel and is used chiefly in PaGer areas.  DARE dates
it from 1907.
