A scone is a much denser thing than a muffin or crumpet.  They're usually
thicker, too, and not toasted, but eaten with butter or clotted cream and
jam.   Scones also often have stuff in them (cheese, currants).

Crumpets look like (English) muffins but are made on a griddle, not baked.
