   Greetings from Akuryri, Iceland.

TOURIST FARMING--From the INSIGHT GUIDE-ICELAND (1998), pg. 137:
In Iceland they call it, jokingly, "tourist farming"--offering farm holidays as an alternative to hotels or camping.
(A Farm Holiday Servcie is mentioned. Google has few hits for this term--ed.)

ICELANDIC HORSE--not in OED. This is a very special breed. A normal horse has three gaits, but this one supposedly has five, including _tolt_ (running walk) and _skeid_ (pace).

HLAUP--glacial flow. Part of "jokulhlaup" (both not in OED).

BRENNIVIN--Iceland´s drink is a caraway seed flavored spirit, drunk icy cold. Called "Black Death."

MISC.
SIGNS YOU'VE BEEN WHALE WATCHING TOO LONG:
   "Whale, whatja think?"
"Whale, I had a well of a time."
