It's official: we sizzle

Dear all,

In case anyone took a break from monitoring current developments in
American English last night, that is, failed to watch "Friends", we should
note for the record that popular culture is finally catching up with
reality.

In last night's episode, Ross announces with great satisfaction that his
date for a cousin's wedding is "an assistant professor from the department
of linguistics". When his sister wants him to break the date so that she
can go to the wedding in her place, Ross says: "Did you not hear what I
just said? My date is an assistant professor in the department of
*linguistics*. They're *hot*."

Just then, the laugh track kicked in, but I'm sure that was a coincidence.
