<Was it "gin up"? As a East Texan who pronounces "pen" and "pin" the same way, I probably wouldn't have noticed the difference between "gen" and "gin." But I have never heard either of these expressions. I assumed that it was a replacement for "generate." Dick Heaberlin San Marcos, Texas
