   Beat an egg and mix with 1 cup of water; measure 5 tablespoons of ground coffee and mix with half the egg and water; place in coffeepot and heat; then add 1 quart of freshly boiling water and boil gently 5 to 8 minutes, according to strength desired; settle 5 minutes.

  Make a white sauce; have ready a hard-boiled egg, chop the white fine and put into sauce; pour the sauce over hot dry toast, press the yolk of the egg through a seive and spinkle over each slice.
