Surely _yo!_ (and I agree, never _yoh!_) is Spanish in origin. Or at least
in its AAVE use. However one should note Louise Pound (American Speech II:3
[1926]): 'Popular Variants of "Yes"': Yip, yep, yap, yop, yahp, yup, yurp,
yis, yuss, yays, yass, yahss, yazz, yahzz, ye-us, ye-yuss, yeh, ye-ah,
yessir (yes sir), yea bo, yah, yeth, yum, yo, yaw, yezz, etc.
