In my experience:

_A_ Shikse/Shiksa/etc. is the girl your parents do not wish you to marry.
_The_ Shikse is the maid, charwoman/cleaming lady, in other words, a female
gentile who is employed in the Jewish house as a servant.

The role played by the cited _Schikseh _ is more usually described as that
of the _Shabbos goy_ (who was obviously not Jewish but could be of either
gender). Young boys in London's East End were performing just such a task
for pocket money at least as recently as the 1930s. (They may still do so,
and I can only speak for London, in such areas as the north London suburb of
Stamford Hill, where the Hasidim live)
