Ason Mills, Brigadier General, U.S. Army
1834-1924
Best known for having invented the "Mills Belt", a type of cartridge belt
widely used in the Wild West.
Also was responsible for straightening the Rio Grande, causing some 30,000
acres to change hands between the United States and Mexico.
Of lingustic interest, he selected the name "El Paso" for the city in Texas.
