My memory is that JUDGMENT was one of the McCormick spelling reforms that the old Chicago Tribune introduced in the earlier 20th Century (along with THO for THOUGH). If so, this would definitely make JUDGMENT an Americanism. Does anyone on ADS-L know about this?
