Leaves

Gerald,

The first two tranches of 'Leaves' have arrived. They look fascinating and I am looking forard to plunging in. That said, as you will see from the enclosed British Library catalogue listing, a microfilm seems to be here too. I shall definitely read it if they do have it. However, I remain very keen to see what you have done with material so far, and look forward to whatever else awaits. At which point I did call up the British Library and ordered the microfilm. They seemed slightly surprised that they owned it, and wondered whether they might have not borrowed it from somewhere else themselves (or if they did own it, whther they might have lent it elsewhere). Still, I shall find out Thursday a.m. what the position is. If I can't get it then I am assured it will materialise in a month or so... Given that it is, as you note, British cant and supposedly non-fiction, I find it slightly odd that they should have catalogued it as 'American Fiction' but then that may be due to the presumably larger 'Wright' collection - does that mean anything to you? That, plus the original US publication. Still, I shall see in due course.

Thanks again, and best wishes,

JG
