Pancake Rocks & Stylobedding

Well, I should have looked - literally - before I
leaped. I checked out "pancake rocks" and
"stylobedding" with Google, and found this refers to a
type of erosive weathering, not a type of bedding.
One site stated stylobedding is a phrase used
worldwide for this type of weathering, but I have
never heard it before and have not been able to find
it in geology books or glossaries. I can see how
comparison or analogy with the selective dissolution
of limestone that forms stylolites would produce the
name stylobedding for this selective weathering, but
maybe its from the columns that are formed at Pancake
Rocks!
