JELLY ROLL

   I forgot to check this.

31 May 1867, BROOKLYN DAILY EAGLE, pg. 2:
...charlotte de ruse, calves' feet jelly, fancy cakes, jelly cake, jelly
roll, mottoes, lemonade and fruit.

RED HOTS

3 September 1867, BROOKLYN DAILY EAGLE, pg. 1:
A game of base ball between clubs composed of colored boys is to come off
soon at Lancaster. The "Red Hots," of Zanesville, have challenged the "Black
Crooks," of Lancaster, to a match game, and the latter have accepted.

23 February 1896, BROOKLYN DAILY EAGLE, pg. 20:
It appears that all the "red hots" (frankfurter sausages) sold at Coney
Island and on the streets of New York are horse meat or mule meat, to say
nothing of their being of the very lowest quality at that.
