Many of the fonts that come pre-installed with Windows contain the thorn and
edh characters. You can get to them through the character map. On the Start
Menu try Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Character Map.

I have a shortcut to the Character Map on the task bar at the lower end of
my screen for ready access. If you do a lot of writing with these characters
it might be worthwhile to configure hot keys for them on your keyboard.

Fonts containing the IPA character set are available for free download from
any number of web sites. Google on the words IPA font download.

These are, however, worthless on ASCII forums like this one. ASCII doesn't
support any of these characters. Use of them on websites can be problematic,
requiring the user to have the appropriate fonts installed.
