"let's smoke a L"

"Smoke an L" seems to be the same as "smoke a J", i.e., "smoke a joint" or
"smoke a marijuana cigarette". There may be other senses (I'm not really
down with the popular culture now that I'm 29 years old [plus a few
months]). Why "L"? Just my rank speculation: "L" is "J" reversed
left-right, a 'cute' disguise in case the Man is listening (even old Dad
knows what a "J" is).
