Frank is absolutely right -- MLA membership is required to present a paper at the convention. There's no help for this, I'm afraid. Besides the fact that one might not want to affiliate with MLA for any number of reasons, it's expensive! So we need MLA members (who, oddly, need not be ADS members) willing to present their research.
