This is apparently Anderson's coinage based on Greek "po^le^s" =
"trader"/"seller", as seen in English "bibliopole" = "bookseller" or [sort
of] in "monopoly" etc., + "technikos" considered = "technical" ... thus
"trade and technical league" I think. Whether the construction is exactly
right I don't know since I am ignorant of Greek.
