    Slang isn't just a casual way of expressing something; it's often
also "owned" by the group using it--as if others have no business
using or even inquiring about it.

    The recent very helpful ads-l replies on "shiznit" led to the
following response from the mother of the two teenagers who had asked
me about it:

"...Thank you for all the work on this word. My family has enjoyed the
responses. The younger ones (14&16) that use the word more often think all
of the investigation has taken something away from the enjoyment of using
the word. ..."
