Preakness

The connection between the NJ town and the race run since the 1870's in MD
is that the owner of the horse "Preakness" (1870) owned horse farms in KY
and in NJ. MY reading is that both farms were named 'Preakness'

Considering that Americans have pronounced the name of the race run in MD
as [Prikn at s] since most of the older members on here can remember, it's
hard to imagine that the name of the town/area in NJ which inspired Milton
Sanford to name his horse and farms 'Preakness' would have been pronounced
other than as they are today.
