Cat is sufficiently neutral in white speech, also, to be applied to black males, as in "black cat", or--going back a long, long way--"spade cat". Ditto for "guy" and "dude". If I heard "stud" used as an appellative, I would figure either it was depreciative or I had taken a wrong turn and was 2000 miles West of where I wanted to be.

Actually, it's a list of some other words that all, like "splib" can be
neutrally applied to any random black male:

scobe scoby scoby-doe boot shoe shooby shooby-doo shooby-dooby
shade stud hard-leg blood blood-brother bruh bro cat head
hard-head niggro nigger brother soul-brother soul-man mot yo'
folk my people

"Stud" and "cat" are sufficiently neutral as to be applicable to white
males as in "white stud" and "white cat." Note also that "stud" is also
as totally neutral as standard "guy" wrt any abilities as "cockhound."
"assmaster," or "player."

I've also noticed that, judging from movies and TV - The Chappelle Show
being one case in point - it's becoming possible to use "nigger" to
refer neutrally to a white male, just as it can be used to refer
neutrally to a black male.
