A PAINFUL DEATH

During a celebrated murder trial in New York City there were among the many
interested spectators two men, between whom the following conversation
occurred:

"The evidence will convict the prisoner sure," remarked one.

"Not only convict him, but will hang him," returned the other.

"Man alive! They don't hang murderers in New York!"

"Well what do they do with them?"

"Kill them with elocution."
