i'm not entirely sure about "in linguistic terms", but in life terms
it's not recent for me.  i have my medicare card, but, still, 20
years is almost a third of my lifetime, 30 years almost half.  those
days don't seem recent at all.  i tend to think of them as being in a
previous life.
