What is there earlier  than 1922 for "sweet mama"?  OED2's earliest
is "1950 A. Lomax Mister Jelly Roll 19 Now these boys used to all
have a *sweet mama...they was what I would call, maybe a fifth-class
whore."  DAS (Chapman, 1995) says "1920s black, A female lover".

1922 (cinema release date January 1, 1923).  Mud and Sand (starring
Stan Laurel).  Intertitle @ 32:37.

[The reference is to a Spanish woman, thus here has the connotation
of dark-skinned but not Negro.]
