As I remember it, these lyrics were encoded in my DNA before my life
began, late 1970s, Colorado.  I must not have known what the tune was
until I heard the standard Jingle Bells a couple of years later.
Then, later still, I learned who this Batman person was.

Well, that's a lie, but I sincerely believe that I didn't know who
Robin was when I first learned these lyrics, and that I thought it was
a literal robin laying the egg.
