TEA AND SYMPATHY--You beat me to it. An overrated play, IMHO.
...
OT: MANHATTAN BOROUGH PRESIDENT--There are nine Democratic candidates. There was NO Republican candidate. Petitioning ends in a week. If I am not challenged or if I surivive a petition challenge (the Dems all vowed not to challenge each other), I won't face a primary in September and will go straight to November...My father was a Republican and it made a lot of sense in upstate New York. If NYC doesn't elect any of the "good"/"friendly" Republicans, then I fear we'll be losing out on federal funds to places like Wyoming. Manhattan does have a Republican tradition, from Teddy Roosevelt to Fiorello La Guardia to John Lindsay. Currently, there are 3 Republicans (none from Manhattan) on the city council, and 48 Democrats. Enough to easily override any veto and stuff any mayor. The Democrats have usually won easily, and with 4-1 matching funds in non-existent races, have generously put their families on the public dole, too.
...
WINE NAMES--Today's Daily News, pg. 79, "Vintners turn vulgar with labels." Some wine names are "White Trash White" and "Redneck Red" and "Big Mamma's Italian Red" and "Old Fart" and "Big Ass" and "Rude Boy" and "Royal Bitch" and "Big House Pink" and "Horny" Chardonnay from Chile. But are they really any better than "Sex on the Beach" or a "Slippery Nipple" or a "Sloe Comfortable Screw" or a "Screaming Orgasm"?

Enquiring minds want to know: Is Barry in fact the only Republican
candidate for Manhattan Borough President, or are there others? Also, is
Barry really a (gasp) Republican by conviction, or is this a matter of
political expediency?
