Surely this  item 17 in the original "Driving Tips" is just part of the
gag, since:
  "If you want to turn left, go a 1/4 mile past your turn, get to the left,
then make a left".... at this point you HAVE made a left, so what's the big
deal?  You've overshot your intended turn.  But, if you "then make a
right"... then you're merely  going along parallel to your original
direction.  Does this make a "jughandle?"
