This phrase has been read as a clue, a caution of another agent of action, a
sinister action, deadly for the turtle. And as an act of grace. These two, plus
the dutiful world-bearing turtle, and Yertle, and standing on the shoulders of
giants seem to indicate more than one cosmplogy.
