radical chic (OED June 1970)

1970 Seymour Krim _Shake It for the World, Smartass_  [_The New Yorker_
magazine stretches] its now rubber conscience to include tokens of radical
chic and impressiveness on top but not at the bottom where it counts.

NOTE:  This book was published in January 1970, and the essay in question
was written in 1962 (although not published at that time).  Therefore it
was Krim, and not Tom Wolfe, who coined _radical chic_, since Wolfe's
usage was in June 1970.
