I just hope someone corrects Craige Roberts' history:  Ohio U came first;
in 1804, it was the first university established west of the
Alleghenies.  Interestingly, St. Louis University, another of my alma
maters, was the first university established west of the Mississippi, in
1818.  Both long predate OSU!
