The April issue of American Libraries, the magazine of the American Library
Association, has on page 81 a short and approving review of The Yale Book of
Quotations, discussing Fred's work on finding first uses: "in some cases
this makes his work quite different from other standard quotation
collections. [...] What's more, although Bartlett's and Oxford are
considerably larger, The Yale Book of Quotations is a good source for modern
American quotations from the likes of Donald Rumsfeld, Dr. Seuss, and Tupac
Shakur, as well as for things like advertising slogans, film lines,
political slogans, and radio and television catch phrases."
