Poll shows 1 in 4 Americans read no books last year. But books aren't everything . . .

Most Americans may not read books. I won't dispute that.

BUT . . . most sure DO read chunks of text in/on:

- store coupons

- cereal boxes (and other packages for household items)

- billboards

- ads on signs in stores

- print ads in magazines, etc.

- brochures for cell phones, etc.

- credit applications

So not books, and not "literature" in the academic sense, but still reading.

I'd say most Americans who can read English read a great deal every day.
