Team Fill-in-the-Blank

It may have, when he was in the third grade! Needless to say, the
overwhelming number of BE surnames originated in the British Isles.
Hence, non-British surnames tend to sound strange to us, until we've
been out of the 'hood for a while. When I first heard the Flemish
names, Hickenlooper and Hoogstraet, on the first day of high school as
the teacher was calling the roll, I nearly burst into laughter.
Fortunately, I noticed just in time that no one else in the classroom
found anything ridiculous about those names.

Namedrop: Are you familiar with the movie, "Slingblade"? The director,
George Hickenlooper, Jr., is the son of that same Hickenlooper.
