"levied charges" for leveled charges

(leveled charges= made accusations, &c;
levied charges=as in costs, fines, penalties, taxes, tariffs, &c.)

Confusion between these two expressions would seem to be almost inevitable,
since not only their sound & appearance, but also their meanings  resemble
each other.
