Another kind of buddy: ''guy''

Although I've been reading this thread from its start, it has only just
occurred to me that I often greet my grown son with "Hi, guy!"  But I think
this is specific to me and him, a shortening of "good guy", which was one of
my nicknames for him.

But when addressing him and my grown daughter together I usually use "you
guys" as a 2nd person plural. Same with mixed groups in general, speaking
informally.
