Ah, "an historic" -- I recently did a study on Canadian usage of "an"
before "historic," "historical," etc. (with a bunch of history on the
usage thrown in for good measure). Got some pretty interesting
results. Now I need to get off my butt and polish it to submit it
somewhere. Anyone who wants to read it just ask me and I'll send you
a copy of its current state.

James Harbeck.
