"calvous"

The "word of the day" at wordsmith.org is "calvous," meaning 'bald' (from Latin "calvus"), illustrated with a quotation from 1997.

OED has no entry for "calvous." Google shows 500+ hits, many of them from foreign web sites but some from online English dictionaries.

"Calvous" is missing from Webster's Third too.  Webster's Third does enter the noun "calva" ('upper part of the human cranium'), which OED also lacks.
