Weld vs Wield

I had someone yesterday point out an odd pronunciation of mine. I'd noticed
it before but apparently it occurs more than I'd thought. When I am using
the verb "to wield" I pronounce it as "to weld." I'm curious if anyone else
does this or knows anyone who does? I see the OED doesn't have a variant
pronunciation of "wield."
