American Dialect Society Nominating Committee Report:

The Nominating Committee (Joan Hall, chair; Michael Montgomery, Matt
Gordon) is pleased to announce its nominee for ADS Executive Council
member for the four years 2008-2011:

Benjamin Zimmer, editor for American dictionaries at Oxford
University Press.

Our constitution says:

Additional nominations may be made by a petition signed by at least
ten members in good standing, to be received by the Executive
Secretary [Allan Metcalf] not later than 15 days before the annual
meeting. [That would be Dec. 19 this year.] Elections shall occur
during the annual meeting.
